DECEMBER 3 & 9, COULD DETERMINE OUR REZONING!

THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME WHERE OUR LOCAL PLANNING & ZONING BOARD AND THE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE MAKING DECISION THAT WILL AFFECT YOUR HOME !!!!!

The Planning & Zoning meeting on December 3 at 6:00 PM and then the City Council Meeting on December 9 at 6:30 PM are the meetings where these organizations will approve or deny the rezoning of Royal Oak!

THE CITY PLANS TO APPROVE OR DENY THIS PLAN AT THESE MEETINGS!

Please note that the City Hall dates have changed and can possibly change again.

We will post any new dates on our website. The postcard that was sent by Brienne Robertson was an attempt to keep you informed but unfortunately the date changed after she mailed it. Also due to the date change, we are not scheduling a meeting at the end of October. If needed, we will consider a meeting in November.

We will keep you informed of any other changes. The website is your best source of ever changing information. Looking forward to seeing you at City Hall. Because this is a new experience for many of you, we created a guide about what to expect. Also if someone wants to speak but is unsure of what to say, we can help you with that. Send an email to Kathleen at fbkathleen@gmail.com and we will try to help you out. Stay strong as we are getting near the end.

“It is very important that we have as many residents attend as possible. You can help to get as many people as possible to come to the meeting.”

SPREAD THE WORD: Please talk with your neighbors about this meeting. If everyone who receives this email tells at least 5 other people about this meeting, we can have record numbers attending. Call your neighbors. Text your neighbors. Stop by and visit your neighbors. You can also forward this email to anyone you know who might not be on our list.

“We are not powerless but we must come together NOW to stop this reckless plan!”

WHAT TO EXPECT AT CITY HALL

Where to go: Both of these meetings are on the second floor of City Hall at the top of the stairs. There is an elevator if needed. Try to be at least 30 minutes early as it takes time to get checked in. You will go through security and you can sit anywhere you wish.

We are hoping to have a sea of red.

No signs are allowed but you can wear a No Rezone shirt if you have one. Take an agenda from the table on the right hand side. It will have the schedule and will also indicate the number assigned to the Royal Oak proposal. Please note: there is a section called Petitions and Requests where people can speak on anything they want. We will not speak during that time but will talk when our proposal is being discussed.

Instructions for speakers:

You do not need to speak. Your presence alone gives a strong message. But if you wish to speak, you will need to complete a sign in card indicating the item number for the Royal Oak proposal, and that you are against this proposal.

These cards are on the same table with the agendas. If the meeting has not started you can give your card to the City Clerk. If it already started you can give it to the police officer, and he will give it to the clerk.

PUT UP A “NO REZONE” YARD SIGN

Now is the time to put up a yard sign. We will bring signs to the meeting and if you have an old one, you can replace it. If you don’t have one, now is the time. We hope to give out all the remaining signs. There is no charge for the signs although we always welcome any donations you can give.

DONATE TO THE CAUSE

This is a good opportunity for you to donate to help us develop our opposition to this rezoning. We can accept checks and cash. Or if you want, we can help you with your online donation. Developing the opposition to this flawed plan is not free; we’ve assembled a team of experts to help us and that costs money.

BE INFORMED

We will use the meeting to update you on what we know and what we’re doing. And as always, we really appreciate your input or suggestions.

We must work together as Royal Oak Neighbors to protect our homes and quality of life. Please check out our website for continuous updates and contact us if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
