Approximately 25-30 citizens attended a Titusville Natural Resource Engagement Project at City Hall on Thursday , May 30th at 6pm. This is part of a larger project obtaining citizens input on the current ecological issues in Titusville. We really applaud the city for obtaining citizen input.
Attendees shared their ideas on ways to address issues related to the restoration of the lagoon, conservation areas, the tree canopy, stormwater issues, and aging infrastructure, among others. The goal was for citizens to provide their input on potential solutions for a number of issues and then prioritize the most important ideas. Among ideas that received a large number of votes were not rezoning areas currently zoned as open space and recreation, not rezoning any areas that served as stormwater drainage, obtaining more lands that can serve as green space, increasing fines for cutting down trees, adding a 1/2 cent sales tax to pay for some needed issues including the restoration of the lagoon, and mitigate some of the environmental damage from the space industry.
In addition to the meeting, there is an online survey for citizens to comment on their thoughts. Here is a link to that survey.
The city is currently compiling these results and will provide a report. We will share that once we can obtain it. In the meantime, please click on the image below to go to the city’s link and include your input on the survey.
